Wednesday...
firstly, XM, yah, i am very busy too...but everyone has different priorities in life....
although i alwaiz seem to be putting work, my future and my studies on the front line, nothing is more impt to me than my family and frens....and of cos the good health and happiness of myself and the abovementioned 2grps....
there are alwaiz tradeoffs in life, some ppl choose to devote more time elsewhere, by doing so, they sacrifice sth else....it is the same for me....as a simple and quick eg, i sacrifice some sleep everynite by devoting time to do more thgs than i can accomplish within a certain timeframe...
I have already been pretty disciplined and my career and studies are def very impt to me too...
but as i had explained, the 2 most impt aspects are my family and my frens, and because i see my blog as a tool to bridge the gap between Singapore and Philadelphia, I don mind sleeping less to update my blog on a regular basis....
This is life...
************************************************************************************
Today, my COO suddenly asked me to go into his office and the moment i stepped in, he closed his door....
he said to me....
COO: "Mel, how is the work going on with &*(# (the sales guy)?"
Me: Fine, i've been working on this and that for him.....
COO: He has given negative feedback abt the work done for him, yes/no?
Me: he didn't mention anything to me, we spoke last wk and I was just completing what he wanted to be done...
at this pt in time, i thot i was going to be issued a warning oredi...cos he looked so stern.....but guess wat?
COO: Okay Mel, just ignore what &*(# is saying, I want to tell you that you have been doing a great job...
Me: *surprised look*
COO: goes on and on reassuring me that i've been great and to ignore the negative stuff by &*(#....
Finally, when he was satisfied that he had reassured me enuff, i left his office, feeling shiok and that I got backing....hahaz....
and i wonder if Americans r reali generous with their praises, cos from day 1 till now, everyone, almost everyone in the office seems to be amazed by my workrate, by the quality of my work etc....
and i don reali tink my work's dat great...sometimes i slack too....which is inevitable....again, XM, this is another tradeoff in my life priorities....cos I sacrifice sleep and am involved in too many activities in my life, my work productivity tends to suffer somewhat....
yah, anyhow, my socializing in the office is doing reali well and it's time i focus even more on the quality of work i deliver....
************************************************************************************
being immersed in an entrepreneurial environment (work, studies, events) which are all entrepeneurial in nature somewhat, I am even more influenced and determined to found my own startup in future....
while i've alwaiz contemplated that, it is beginning to look more and more like a possibility in the near future oredi....and i am working towards dat too....
oso XM, on the same topic again....oftentimes, one might feel lost in life because of the diversity and abundance of choices and paths that one can take...
and sometimes, one will tend to be misled by seemingly great paths that work for other ppl....
but dat doesn't necessarily mean dat it will work for u or me....
So, the most impt thing is to have a mind of our own...think of wat we wan to achieve in life, our goals, our dreams, and from there, formulate mini/short term goals and objectives which will eventually lead us to our ultimate goal and we will surely or almost certainly succeed....
to Olive, and to many of my frens in Singapore who are busy and tired right now....
I'd just like to share with u wat i do to overcome that....
Like what i alwaiz tell my close frens,...
Take a step back, regroup, refocus, replan, remind urself of ur goals, and to take a look at the big picture...
this will not onli allow u to take a break and rejuvenate ur mind, but also to make sure u r periodically checking your path to ensure u r still on the right and intended one....
I have alwaiz been doing so, and especially over here, i find the need to take a step back to do the 4Rs especially essential....
so far it has worked reali well for me....
i am in a good mood everytime i take a step back, for it allows me to take a big stride ahead after i've rested enuff....
the moral of the story?
try out what works best for u.....
