Thursday...

I donned my suit for the 3rd time in US today....
The above foto was taken with my ABPIS fren who is from india.....todae i attended this event at Hyatt Hotel, a very grand event with a very good lunch and presentations focused on Logistics and International Business...

yah, this ABPIS program is reali very good....i've had so many opportunities to step out of the 'student' image and meet business people, to learn how to network, to learn how to talk to directors of sales, directors of business developments, etc, of big companies....
it's reali a very good experience....

the talk covered presentations by the Port Authority, the Mass Transit and the Airport speakers...
all the talks reminded me of Singapore, our world famous, world number 1 PSA, Changi Airport and state-of-the-art technologies in our mass transit systems....
I felt so proud of Singapore as the presenters talked on...
Even though Singapore is such a small country, its achievements, to say the least, are beyond many of the largest countries in the world...
As fellow Singaporeans, it is our duty to continue to drive this success, to drive the successful economic growth, to cultivate a 'can-do-it' attitude....
It might sound cliche, but the future of Singapore indeed does depend on us.....whether to be the future leaders of Singapore of tomorrow or not depends on us.....

Since I am on this topic now, I juz want to bring out another issue about Singaporeans who alwaiz lament and complain about NUS, NTU or SMU....
There are people who constantly lament about their universities, the lack of opportunities, the lack of good lecturers, the lack of good teaching mtds or teaching facilities, the lack of this, the lack of dat....
Basically, they are never satisfied....
I just feel so sorry for this group of people....Do you noe that NUS is a highly respected university over here?
That it has been ranked top 20 in the world for 2 consecutive years is by no means a mere coincidence?
That, while there are many variables in the ranking, the rankings r still very real and we are in fact amongst the best?
C'mon, if u r so dissatisfied with where u r studying, go on, give up ur place to others, there are so many people who want to study in NUS but due to different circumstances, are unable to....
Also, there is an abundance of opportunities, well, at least i noe there are in NUS....but some ppl juz don go look for them and instantly complain abt the lack thereof....
Don't reap the benefits of studying in a top university and yet at the same time, be an ungrateful bastard and complain and lament the institution which is nurturing u....

Sorry if i sound mean, but dat is the fact....
Don't be an ingrate...dat's the msg i want to relay here....

time to cook my family dinner!
thks ZW....hahaz, will share my thots with u privately later!

Future leaders of Singapore...
That's US...

it's the irony that the world see so upz about us and our university and crave for us but the local scene and employers see little special abt us. even though we are top 20.

perhaps it's the case of we-are-one-too-many as in the local employers see us as a bunch of many ordinaries while anyone with an overseas but inferior degree may come in and look unique and different. the consensus is that there are too many of us local grads and we dont seem to stand out much against one another.

to me, the upper class are always the foreign imports and talents and the lower class are always the banglas..singaporeans always fill up the middle and working class. we are talents only in a foreign context and if local employees dont start to realize this, we will all move abroad for opportunties.

this sucks.
