Thursday...
i visited my company todae...
it was a reali good experience....hahaz....
well, unlike many of my fellow batch mates, my company is located on the suburbs, slightly on the outskirts of the city....so i have to take a bus....it's definitely not within walking distance....
my first time todae, but i had asked my senior for directions oredi, and i had been diligently checking out all the available maps of that area and remembering the way to get there, so i was pretty fine...
along the expressway, i saw this road sign, it was gigantic and was in the middle of the road....it says...
"Bridge may be Icy"....
hahaz, my first thot was of the real Icy....i was like tinkin....huh? how come Icy's being mentioned here?
yah...blur me....it actually meant dat the road might be icy during winter.....hahaz....
well...aniwaiz....i managed to find my way to my company pretty fast but i still had to rely on passerbys for directions....
my bosses are very cool people, esp my direct supervisors.....2 of them...
1 of them is super energetic, super enthusiastic, super fun! and he's onli 34....I rem Isabelle mentioning dat she feels dat i'm full of energy and enthusiasm.....
she wouldn't say dat anymore if she had seen my supervisor....i pale in comparison to him!!!
Aniwaiz, he brought me arnd and I was introduced to the CEO, the CFO, the CTO, the IT head and a few other employees...
i'm the 11th employee....hehez...high tech startup companies r lydat....much smaller scale den MNCS obviously...
but although i'm the 11th employee, i'll still be more senior than some of them...cos some of them haven't actually been hired....some will be interviewed soon....
I was even asked to sit in during 1 of the interviews for a programmer juz now....i felt quite paiseh to be asked to sit in when even other employees don get to be invited....
but eventually i didn't go cos i asked to go to the restroom....hahaz....
Lunch was good....cos they brought me to a restaurant cum pub and gave me a treat! whoa! how's dat for a start? my other frens who have been meeting their companies onli had at most like 1-2hrs of meeting time and nuttin else....mine was 6 full hrs and i was given a treat!
I ordered Mango Lemonade and a Fish Tacos.....wow.....nice....hehez....
but of cos, after having had their treat, i'll work even harder lah....it's a nice gesture from them and i shld reciprocrate even more....
after lunch, i chatted with and learnt some basic stuff from an employee who has onli been there for like 2wks.....my energetic supervisor himself, let's call him EnthuMan.....
he later gave me a live demo of my company's products online....it was a live demo cos he was REALI making a sales pitch to prospective clients online who are in Dallas....
i was like....WOW.....he's reali good at it man....the entire presentation was reali smooth, fluent and almost flawless....
well, i had many questions for him after dat....and finally bade everyone goodbye at abt 5pm....
the CEO even joked dat i shld start bringing my sleeping bag frm monday onwards cos there's alot of work waiting for me to be done....hahaz....interesting fellows....
************************************************************************************
my initial bit of apprehension and nervousness went away reali soon after i started talking to EnthuMan....his friendliness and warmth totally melted any second thots anyone would hav abt working for the company...
well, i was told dat every quarter, i'll be entitled to some sort of profit sharing if the company does well...let's hope it will.... =)
I am kinda raring to go....to start learning....to start showing EnthuMan and the CxOs dat i'm worthy of this NOC programme, worthy of being selected by NUS and dat i'm worthy of their hiring....
I wanna do better than the full time employees, learn faster than them, do thgs faster than them, accomplish more than they can.....and i believe i can do so.....
Work will officially begin next Monday, 17th July....and my real journey will begin then....
I'm feeling pretty confident right now and well, i'll definitely try my best....
don worry, whoever is reading this, i'll take good care of myself....i wun compromise my health by working and studying too hard.....i'll do everythg within my own limits...and i do noe my own limits.... =)
I'll finally get to experience real work life oredi....have been hearing lotz of stories from my girl frens who have oredi graduated and are working full time....accountants, bank related work, etc etc....
now's my turn to reali experience it...and i can share their sentiments on many thgs oredi....but perhaps with a slightly different perspective from America....it'll make future sharing of stories, experiences and lessons even more enriching, interesting and exciting....
************************************************************************************
it oso means dat frm nxt wk onwards, i'll be very busy and i might not update my blog so often oredi....but no probz, i'll try to whenever i can but i might oso choose to spend the extra time emailing or contacting frens directly....
i'll be busy because i not onli hav work frm 9-6 everydae but when i reach home, i will still hav school work to settle....dat is the NOC programme.....work full time and oso study full time.....
but i'll definitely be up to the challenge....especially when i noe i hav my family and so many close frens behind me back in Singapore....
i'll do everyone proud..... =)
i'm meeting another house agent at 9pm later.....quite tired but no choice.....im' representing all 9 of us who will be stayin tog at the perm house....but because we can onli move in there in mid aug, we need another temp house to cover us till then....
and yes, i'm still the onli 1 of the 9 who is oredi in Philly...so the job goes to me.....
tired....but i'm feeling excited abt the way thgs r turning out.....
will jzu need a good rest tonite....
thks again all my loved ones and dear dear frens.....without u all, i surely wun be able to make it tis far or beyond....
