Thursday...

first up, the photo we took at Banana Leaf @ Philly ChinaTown juz on Monday...
Special Guest of Honour: Prof Jan (on my right)....
he's my consulting professor over this 1 year in NCBV....and he's also an EE prof at UPenn....yupz...

************************************************************************************
I'm working from home this afternoon...
the seminar this morning ended late...at 12+, and because it's in New Jersey, Camden, the roads were very unfamiliar to us all, and my new ABPIS fren from Taiwan, tog with us, had some problems finding the right exit on the highway (when we weren't even supposed to have hit it in the first place)...
the jam at the gates were bad too....and so i reached Philly very late...and although i felt reali reali reali bad, i thot it'll be more efficient if i worked from home instd....and so i called to inform my supervisor...
hope he wun mind...

Aniwaiz, before anythg else, let me juz post a couple of fotos i hurriedly snapped before leaving the compounds tis aftn...

Campbells Soup...everyone must hav heard of them before...if anyone hasn't, please climb out of the cave and return to civilisation!
the seminar todae was held at CampBell's World HeadQuarters...which is also the main reason why I decided to attend despite the seminar having little to do with my work now...
cos i reckoned that it'll be a once in a lifetime opportunity to visit their world HQ, much like the visit to the Hershey Town last weekend....

well, the seminar and ABPIS...are reali great programmes...
for a start, we were treated like everyone else (those attendees from corporate firms), had a good spread for the reception breakfast, were seated in a world-class seminar room, and were spoken to big shots from universities, Hershey, the FAS in America....

okie, to cut a long story short...it's an amazingly wonderful programme to do the following things...

  1. interact with, learn from and understand the cultures of international students from many nationalities (14 nationalities from this current batch of 25 members accepted into ABPIS)
  2. abundance of networking opportunities with international students, professionals from various industries and startup companies
  3. add alot of firepower and substance into our networks and CVs over this upcoming year
  4. learn alot about the business culture, business practices, trade missions, etc etc. frm the diverse variety of seminars, conferences and networking events

as a simple illustration, i made many new frens in the short span of abt 3hrs todae!
The following are from the current batch of ABPIS programme....
KS (Togo), STY (Taiwan), KC (Japan), DM (Indonesia), MJ (India)...
They are all MBA students in one of the universities here....as u can see, i'm not naming anythg or anyone so dat the likelihood of my blog being read by ppl who arent supposed to is lower....

also, i spoke to a few professionals....
And to my surprise, as he was about to leave, a man, probably in his 50s, rushed up to me and my fren and gave up his business card and talked to us....
well, it's pretty interesting cos i merely spoke to him for awhile before dat....well, i guess he wanna promote his company....and the fact dat we are asians would interest him alot...
well, enuff abt him but apparently, his background is pretty impressive....he has a PHD frm John Hopkins Uni in International Mkting....and yah, i'll spare everyone his equally impressive background...
But i was pretty excited dat as a result of attending the seminar, i get networking opportunities like dat....

Yupz, I'll be contacting him soon to see if there are any opportunities for both parties....him as well as my company....exciting huh....tis is the world of entrepreneurship....
Where networks mean so much....

next wed, i'll be attending a supposedly even grander seminar regarding trade missions at Union League...
If the name sounds impressive to you already, wait till u check out the pictures...
http://www.unionleague.org/
it can easily beat Ritz Carlton hands down....and attire wise...3 piece suit...no less....
So, i'll be donning on my suit for the first time in America come next Wed...

I guess the fact that i did not cook up some tale in order to delay my flight here in earli July was a right decision...cos right now, there are no more places in this programme...and onli 2 of us are in it....

okie...gotta go do some work for now...
i'm juz pretty excited abt thgs here....and i'm tinkin of talking to my CFO or CEO soon to inform them abt the potential of all these networking opportunities...and hopefully, will get business cards printed out for myself as well....

till then....
miss everyone lotz as usual...

Life of an entrepreneur...
I dono whether i'm suitable for it...
but i'm enjoying the process thus far...

PS: Take care baby brandon, will show u more fotos of cows soon!
